Call for applications: Attachment and internship support program

Internship opportunity at LEARN LOGISTICS by Kühne Foundation (LEARN)

 

The LEARN LOGISTICS by Kühne Foundation (LEARN), in collaboration with the University of
Nairobi, is in its second year of implementing the Graduate Attachment and Internship Support
Program. The program aims to foster university-industry linkages and enhance the employability of
graduates by providing exposure to real-world work experiences.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in an organization or company relevant to their degree program. They will gain hands-on industry knowledge and strengthen their ability to address real-world challenges in the marketplace. They will apply the knowledge and skills acquired at the university to understand business operations and industry activities. Additionally, they will engage and network with potential employers while gaining insight into the additional skills and competencies businesses and
organizations seek. The attachment or internship should start not later than 1st of July, 2025.

 

Who Can Apply
(I) Target groups

The program targets two groups:
§ Undergraduate and postgraduate students proceeding for attachment as part of their studies.
This attachment will run for two months, from July 2025 to August 2025.
§ Final year undergraduate students awaiting graduation and recent graduates who are currently
unemployed and wish to gain industry experience. This internship will run for three months,
from July 2025 to September 2025.


(II) Eligibility
The applicant should be a University of Nairobi student who has studied logistics and supply chain
management (LSCM) and related courses from the Department of Management Science and Project
Planning and Department of Agricultural Economics. However, students who have studied courses
with logistics and supply chain management orientation from other faculties can also apply.

(III) Placement requirement
The applicants must, by themselves, first secure an attachment or internship position in a company
or organization which meets the following criteria: registration in Kenya and a four-year turnover
average of not less than KES 100 million as indicated in official annual financial audit reports. Note:
the company or organization does not have to pay for the attachment.

 

Support Provided
A modest monthly stipend to cover costs of attachment or internship. This will cater for transport,
housing and subsistence.

 

Application Documents
Application documents to be submitted should include:
1. Hand signed motivation letter of not more than 1 page, written in Times New Romans, font
size 12 and single spaced
2. Copies of academic transcripts from the Faculty for the years completed
3. A letter of recommendation from the Chairman of the Department confirming the student's
status, year of study, and requirement to proceed for mandatory attachment
4. Degree Certificate
5. Letter of award of attachment or internship position by a company or organization that meets
the criteria of the University
6. Curriculum vitae (CV) that includes the contact addresses of two referees

Supervision and Assessment
§ During the attachment or internship, the student will be supervised by the relevant department
of the University of Nairobi
§ After the attachment or internship, the student will regularly participate in traceability surveys
