COURSE DURATION: Two (2) years | Rolling Intakes: January, May and September
PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the programme is to provide leadership in managing technology and operations in a fast-changing environment. By so doing, society is inspired to become more efficient, more open to innovations and positive change. The programme regard technology as an asset, not a disruption.
RATIONALE
The 4th industrial revolution has thrust technology and operations at the heart of the organization. The investment in technology and its consequences demands that modern leaders at both the corporate and public sector are informed of operations and how technology has become part of our lives. Stakeholders’ forum involving HR managers and other thought suggests there is a shortage in the market for this cadre of experts. The rise of global firms riding on technology demands such experts too.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this programme, the learner should be able to: -
- Identify key operations in firms across different sectors;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of technology used in operations in different sectors;
- Recommend the best technology in terms of efficiency, cost-effectiveness and agility;
- Apply the principles of operations and technology in new contexts;
- Demonstrate how operations and technology contribute to the growth of firms and the economy in general.
MODE OF DELIVERY
Face-Face Mode
Lectures and tutorials using notes, electronic presentations, instruction manuals, group discussions, practical laboratory demonstrations and fieldwork.
Open, Distance Learning, and e-Learning Mode
To be offered off-campus using a multi-media approach, including a variety of self-instructional print and video conferencing materials.
Blended Learning Mode
This is the use of combined face to face and open, distance learning and e-learning modes.

Admission Requirements
Minimum Admission Requirements
The following shall be admissible:
- A holder of at least an Upper Second Class Honors degree or its equivalent in non-classified degrees.
- A holder of Lower Second Class Honors or its equivalent with at least two (2) years of relevant work experience.
- A holder of Lower Second Class Honors or its equivalent plus a Postgraduate Degree in a relevant area of study.
- A holder of a pass degree with at least five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- Any other qualification accepted by Senate as equivalent to any of the above.
- Applicants who have completed equivalent Masters course units at other Senate recognized universities may, with the approval of the Senate, be allowed to transfer credits up to one third (six) core course units into their programme.
- Students desiring to receive credit for any prior course units done will need to make a formal request, which includes:
- A list of the University of Nairobi (UON) core course units for which the student is requesting credits transfer;
- Official transcripts, indicating courses that may be equivalent and;
- Description and syllabus/outlines for the courses previously taken and passed. Besides, there may be an exemption examination.
- Only a third of the courses can be transferred
- The minimum grade for transfer must be grade B or equivalent
- All those seeking to transfer credits will be required to pay an appropriate fee.
